Corendon Boeing 747 on the move

March 2019 - After a five-day transport from Schiphol to Badhoevedorp, the Boeing 747 arrived at its new location in the garden of the Corendon Village Hotel on 10 February 2019. To stabilise the aircraft, with a length of 60 metres and a weight of 150 tonnes, the wheels under the nose, wings and body were placed on special supports. These steel supports were custom made by Troost Constructiebedrijf from Staphorst and hot-dip galvanised by Rotocoat.

The former KLM Boeing 747-400 ‘City of Bangkok’ will be converted into a 5D experience about the 747 and the history of aviation later this year. Visitors can then go to places that are normally not accessible to the public. One can take a look at the cargo space for example, or see how the aircraft is refueled, pay a visit to cockpit and the business class and even walk over the 30-metre long wings. The highlight of the visit will be the 5D experience, in which visitors can experience all facets of flying for themselves.

That the transport of the first Corendon Boeing 747 was quite an undertaking can be seen here:
